The Ohno Reservoir is a scenic waterside location in Uenohara City, renowned for its cherry blossoms. Furthermore, it holds significant value in the history of modern civil engineering and energy, as a "regulating reservoir" deeply connected to Japan's earliest full-scale hydroelectric power generation facilities (the Yatsusawa Power Plant), which utilized water from the Katsura River system. The Yatsusawa Power Plant facilities are a nationally designated Important Cultural Property, characterized by their large scale, with the intake, regulating reservoir, tunnels, and aqueducts extending approximately 14 km.
