Geosite name:
Kingi Rock (Longmen Gorge)
This distinctive rock formation is located in the Katsuragawa Gorge in Uenohara City, Yamanashi Prefecture, and is known by its name among local residents. Both banks are sheer cliffs, and geologically, it belongs to a Neogene marine conglomerate layer.
It is known that the literary figure Yosano Tekkan named the gorge "Ryumonkyo" (Dragon Gate Gorge) after this rock.
